Sam’s Gift X Bolton HC

Sam’s Gift X Bolton HC

Lu Bull12 Jan 2023 - 18:40

Sam’s Gift becomes our Charity of the Season until 2025

We are proud to announce that our members have made the decision to select Sam’s Gift as the charity Bolton Hockey Club will support until the end of the 2025 season. There were a number of worthy charities in the running, but the overwhelming support for Sam’s Gift made them the clear winner.

Sam’s Gift was started following the loss of Sam Nicholls in 2014 to T-Cell lymphoma at the age of 22. It’s a growing charity which supports Teenagers and Young Adults who are treated at The Christie along with those who are in Supportive Care. You can find out more about the charity here.

Sue Nicholls, founder of Sam’s Gift and Sam’s mum shared the following, “We are delighted that Bolton HC have chosen to support Sam’s Gift. Sam loved hockey, starting at Bury Jags, playing for Lancashire and also playing for Bolton HC men’s before going to Uni. It is therefore even more poignant that the charity is being supported by the club.”

Lu Bull, Bolton HC President added “Hockey offers so much to so many, and the committee wanted to explore the opportunity to engage a charity which is offering support to those in difficult times. The hockey family is always a strong one, and the connections we have with each other have been shown here with the current members rallying to support a charity set up in memory of a club player. I am excited to see what we can do together over the next few seasons to support this charity to grow and encourage our members to get involved with ideas (do I hear the cries for the return of ‘mini tour’?!)”

Thank you to all the members that took the opportunity to vote and get involved, we continue to welcome ideas and opportunities to grow this partnership and encourage club members to get in touch with the committee if you have any ideas. You can speak to a member of the committee or complete the “ask the committee” link to share your ideas.
