Bolton faced Formby and looked to start out on an attacking front with a new formation. Bolton’s pressure paid off with Yaz Aldcroft opening the scoring after 25 minutes. Formby looked to get back into the game by throwing players forward from the midfield and levelled the scoring up with a powerful strike from the top of the D into the bottom corner. Not dismayed by the equaliser, Bolton continued to play forward and again retook the lead through Aldcroft just before halftime.

After the break Formby were quick to equalise through a rebounded short corner and went on to take the lead 3-2 after pushing a lot of players forward, troubling Bolton’s defence. Bolton looked for a route back into the game and found one after Aldcroft’s stunning strike was initially saved by the keeper, but eventually was tucked home by Jenny Brookfield. With just seven minutes to go Formby retook the lead and despite Bolton’s efforts to respond, time ran out and the game finished 4-3 to Formby.
